View from Cabot Highway, now known as the TCH


On Route 10, part of the "original" Cabot Highway which was officially opened in 1947 to commemorate Cabot's 450th anniversary of his landfall.  This photo is looking towards Clarenville.

1956 Clarenville's Regional Library was a memorial to LAC Lester Blackmore who lost his life during Word War Two. In 1956 Librarian was Miss Rose Cooper.

The RCMP Building in Clarenville (1956) provided offices and living quarters in charge in 1956 was Corporal W. G. Gillett.
