The wedding will take place at St. Mary's church St. John's on May 19th. of Hilda, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Peddle of St. John's, and Edward son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Stone of Clarenville. The couple will reside in Labrador City.

Rev. Father M.R. Hynes P.P. of' Gambo Parish, who served Clarenville's Roman Catholic population for the past 6 years, has been transferred to Baie Verte. At the conclusion of his final service here on Apr.25th. a presentation of a sum of money was made to him by Mr. Fred Bittner on behalf of the congregation. He is succeeded by Fr.Macdonald of Badger.

Recently Mr. O. Orpana of Lethbridge, a Seventh Day Adventist Minister and member of the Canadian Temperance Assn. visited Norwood High School with a film showing the dangers of smoking and the harmful effects of alcohol on the human brain. Literature was distributed among tyre students which showed that smoking is definitely a cause of lung cancer.

Among those receiving honorary doctorate degrees at Memorial’s convocation ceremonies is Mr. Leslie Tuck, wildlife biologist of the Canadian wildlife service in Nfld. Mr. Tuck is a native of Shoal Harbour, and is regarded as one of Canada s most distinguished ornithologists. Also to receive a degree is the Moderator of the U.C. of Canada, Rt. Rev. Dr. Howse, a native of Twillingate, Nfld.

Shirley Pitcher and Janice Bourne were among the Grace Hospital graudates recently; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Pitcher attended and Mrs. Melvin March...Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Adey visited St. John's. Mrs. Lily Baggs has returned from' Bishop's Falls...Mr. and Mrs. Tom Tuck of Grand Falls, and Mrs. Frank Howard and daughter Michele are visiting here.. Mr. Joe Janos underwent surgery in St. John's recently ... Mrs. Eph Balsom returned home from hospital much improved and Mrs. Lawrence Strong has also returned from hospital fooling fine
