Passed away at his home on May 5th. Mr. Arthur Strong in his 76th. year. Although he had been in ill health for some years, his death dame unexpectedly. He leaves to mourn his wife Lillian, 3 sons - Cecil at Clarenville, William in Vancouver and Angus in Grand Falls; 5 daughters - Joan,(11rs. John Duffitt) and Gladys at Clarenville; Lorna (Mrs. Vaughan MacDonald) in St. John's-, Rosemary (Mrs. Cy Hoskins) in Gander, and Betty Lou (Mrs. Ralph Rowsell in Halifax);-(all of whom, with the exception of Williai-,q7 were home for the funeral)- 3 sisters - Mrs. Rhoda January and Mrs. Ethel Perrin at Swampscott, Mass. and Mrs. Alfreda Mitchell of New Hampshire; and one brother John at Clarenville, also 24 grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev.W.H. Macabe. The Canadian Legion, of which the deceased was a member, officiated in the services at the home and also at the graveside, in the U.C. cemetery.

Passed away suddenly at the General Hospital on May 10th. Mrs. George Pearce of Clarenville in her 75th. year. She leaves to mourn 3 daughters - Rosalie (Mrs. George Janes) of Clarenville, Signe (Mrs. R.D. Green) at Kingston, Ont., and Bessie (sirs. Thad Bowker) at Lincoln Maine, USA; and one son Oliver L. Mills of Yorkshire England; one stepdaughter Bessie, (firs. Herbert Strong) of Clarenville, 12 grandchildren; a brother-in-law Mr. Chesley Hills with whom she resided. Hcr husband predeceased her six weeks ago.

Passed away suddenly on May'12tL. Mr. Brishel Strong of Clarenville in his 74th. year. He leaves t6 mourn his wife .Blanche, 3 daughters - Beulah in St. John's, Mervie (Mrs.J. Souccy) of Ottawa, and Shoila. 4 sons - Derek, Raymond, Hervine and Lloyd and 6 grandchildren; 3 brothers Absalom, Norman and Harold of Clarenville; 3 sisters - Gertie (Mrs. Alfred Hynes) and Dora (Mrs. Tiller) of Toronto, and Cornelia (Ms. Tipple) of Corner Brook. Interment was in the U.C. Cemetery.
