| Note: BTL stands for Bell
Telephone Laboratories. In the "old days," Bell Labs
researched and designed equipment, Western Electric built the equipment,
and AT&T and its local phone companies operated and maintained the
systems. Bell Labs was responsible for the development of such things as
radio astrometry, transistors, lasers, and negative feedback amplifiers. |
