I have decided to shutdown this site.

Clarenville the Early Days

"This site has been setup so that former and current residents of Clarenville & Shoal Harbour, learn about the history of the community we call Home"

Back in May of 2004 I started this site with the idea of setting up a Clarenville High Alumni Site with a Guestbook however over the years the site has grown to be so much more. I have always found the history or Clarenville, Shoal Harbour and area to be so interesting and now it has become my focus with this site to keep the history alive. If you can help me with this project please contact me with any information along with any photos that you may have.

A lot of the information you find on this site is not original, it is a collection of information found over the years. I have referenced the sources where I collected the information.

We have now started to add copys of The Random Guardian which was a monthly paper that published local news, birthdays, social, personal and club news, a religious column and more. The guardian was started by Mrs. Geneva Cholock in August 1962 with 250 copies available in Clarenville only, then Jean Balsom took it over and then the last know publishers were Austin and Audrey Hynes who ran it until about 1970 or 71. If you have copies available and would allow us to include it on the website please contact us.

It should also be noted that this website has no affiliation with the Town of Clarenville or any other organization, It is strictly a Personal Website.

Why not sign the guestbook after you had a chance to look through the site.

Thank you for visiting our website,

Kevin Elliott
